Supernatural :)
Out of atmosphere, action, & the supernatural, I think that the supernatural is more effective in Mary Shelley's FRankenstein. I think that the supernatural is the most effective because after all, if Frankenstein had no monster in it, the book would not have been a hit at all. The whole story is based off of this creature & his life, or how Frankenstein created this creature & how it affected his life. No matter who is playing the narrator, the creature is brought up. How interesting would the book be if there were no eight foot tall, ugly wretched creature in it terrorizing people? Not only is the supernatural element effective in Frankenstein but it is effective in most hits. For example, Twilight & Goosebumps were huge hits.. because they had supernatural elements involved in the writing making them far more interesting or bone chilling; perhaps even giving the reader goosebumps. ;) Therefore, I think supernatural if the most effective element in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
