Nana Nana Boo Boo

When I was in fourth grade, I was in drama club. I absolutely love to act, so I knew I would enjoy partaking in it. We would meet in the mornings on certain days & either come up with what plays we wanted to do, or practice whichever one we picked. One day we picked a Harry Potter black light theater play. A black light theater play is when the character dress up in clothes with neon colors for their costumes & have a black light shining on them so you can see their faces. To make this more alive, the people on stage would have actors saying their lines on microphones while they act out what they are saying. The whole concept is really cool, & we were all excited. Now, I always like to be the lead in every play because if I am going to put in the effort, & have my parents drive me I do not want to be a tree or something stupid like that. So of course, I wanted to be Hermione. Well so did every other girl. So we did what all competing actors do; we fight for it. Now we do it out acting skills of course. So each girl took a turn reading a couple lines. I of course got the part. But I got it only because I anunciated the words better than everyone else. That completely defeated the purpose later though because I ended up acting the words out, not speaking them. Regardless, I had a great time. :)

Favorite Trait

One thing I like about myself are my eyes. My eyes are green, but I guess when I wear certain colors like blue or grey, my eyes tend to look that color. Out of my two siblings, I am the only one with light eyes. My brother has hazel eyes, but they look more like brown. I think my eyes fit me because my hair is dark & light eyes go well with dark hair. Usually my eyes are one physic trait that people like about me & sometimes wish they had. I always liked the fact that I had green eyes because I was usually the only one out of my group of friends that had green eyes. I get my light eyes from my dad. My dad has blue eyes & my mom has brown. My grandma (my dads mom) has green eyes too. My mom also said that her grandpa had a dark complexion but light eyes also so they must have both contributed to my eyes. Well whoever I got it from, I am glad I did because I LOVE my eyes.

No Pay-tients

If I could create a gadget, device, or building, I would design a huge building to house cancer patients. It would almost resemble a spa/hotel for any one with cancer, disability, or if they are paralyzed. They could stay at the hotel to get away from their daily frustrations or complications. For the girls, they could get manicures, pedicures, massages,& makeovers. The guys could get the same treatments if they wanted to also. There would also be outdoor & indoor activities for everyone to engage in. There would be baseball, softball, basketball, tennis, & an outdoor pool. Inside the building, there would be an indoor pool, & rooms to hold exercise classes, & light work-out machines. There would be a wide range of activities for everyone to take part in but would not have to if they did not want to. One room would be a game room designed with video game decorations for the patients that either do not like to participate in physical activity or could not. This building would impact society because there are a lot of people that have a disability that restricts them from doing everyday normal things. Most cancer patients are constantly have treatments, tests, or chemo done, & are drained afterwards. To get away from all of that, they could come to the spa & relax & forget about their life outside the walls. This would calm the patients down & cause them to be less stressed & would also make them happier.

If Money Were No Object

If money were no object, I would want to be an actress. I started performing in plays when I was in fourth grade. The summers of fifth & sixth grades went to an acting camp at French Creek. Those two summers were the best because I had activities to wake up for or look forward to. The camp really helped me open up & not be afraid or shy to get in front of people. When I was in fourth, fifth, & sixth grade, I participated in plays at school, always receiving a main role or one of the main roles. It was strange because most of the plays I voted in, I played the role of a boy. It never really mattered to me because I was on stage. When everyone is a young child, they want to grow up to become rich & famous, or a celebrity. Personally, all of that would be fantastic, but those qualities are not important to me. I would just prefer to be on stage, in front of the camera, or whatever it may be, as long as I'm doing what I love. This would impact society because I would be entertaining people because I openly want to, & not because of the paycheck. Through my work, I could entertain people, inform, inspire, persuade, or alter their feelings about something. No matter what they would be feeling, they would at least be feeling something. That would leave me feeling amazed that I could make people feel great emotions & al because they watched something I participated in. & that would be the most rewarding thing in the world.

Favorite Hobby

Even though this is not much of a hobby, my favorite thing to do is read. Over the summer, I read the rest of the Percy Jackson series. I was constantly on my laptop picking up where I last left off in the book. I loved reading the Percy Jackson books because the stories relate to Greek mythology & I completely love Greek mythology. Most of the adventures Percy & his friends went on involved some type of fight a great hero was once in. To defeat the god or creature, they would follow how the hero defeated that creature. For example, they defeated Polyphemus by following the example of Odysseus. I also enjoy reading teen dramas because I can relate to them on a certain level. My two favorite authors are Sharon M. Draper & Rick Riordan. Another of my favorite series is Crank by Ellen Hopkins. When I really enjoy a book, I can read it for hours. I put it down but I find myself picking it back up twenty minutes later to find out what happened. I get so into reading, I often compare things in life to what I read in books, or the littlest things remind me of my book. I actually need a new series to read; any suggestions?

The One Thing I Would Change

The one thing that I would change that happened in my life would be my sister & nephew moving to Missouri. I would change that because my sister & I are really close & I can talk to her about anything. Also, it is hard to be away from my nephew all the time. I love that little dude, & he always makes my day but he cannot because he is not here! My sister (Jacqui) moved to Missouri because her fiancĂ© (Sean) got a job & they all moved there. I am not exactly sure how I would change this, but I would at least have tried to coax Sean to find a job in Ohio equal to the one in Missouri. It most likely would not have worked, but it would  have been worth a try. This would have effected my family & I because we would be able to see Jacqui & Jayden more often. My bond with my sister would strengthen even more & I would have things to look forward to after school, or during the weekends. I would always be over my sister's house hanging out with her or spending the night like we used to. For now, I just have to wait until they come for visits.. (one which should hopefully be towards the ending of October :))

Jayden :)

Out of all the people in my life there is to value, I value my nephew the most. Yes, I am a young aunt.  But frankly, I love it. My nephew's name is Jayden. He is two years old, going on three, but he acts like he is five. He like to be independent & make people laugh. He brightens everybody's & anybody's day who meets him. For being two, he is such a caring, sweet, innocent gentleman. The reason I value him most is because he is still a young child but he is so bright &  has his whole future ahead of him. He is so oblivious to the huge things going on around him, even though he knows what they are, but he cannot help but make everyone take the good out of it. Someone can be in the worst mood but will smile because of him. When I say he is oblivious, I mean he is unaware of the surroundings around him & he does not fully grasp the concepts of everything, but what little kid does not? That is one of the things I like about him most, his innocence. It reminds me that not everything in the world is bad & we should still have faith in the following generations. This little heart breaker is going to make it! Love you Jay :)

Summer

The most interesting thing that happened to me during summer was when my neighbors got into a fight. It all started when my friend Jordan came over & we were just talking outside on my porch. Suddenly, we saw the guy pulling his girlfriend outside by her hair. Although this may sound stupid, Jordan & I did not know if they were serious so we just froze; mouths open, staring in awe at each other. While we were talking, the girl comes out the house again. This time, she was bawling her eyes out. She walked down the street, but after a while we could not see her anymore. Jordan & I got carried away watching vines, but eventually the guy came out with the baby in the stroller & they walked to get his girlfriend. They came back fifteen to twenty minutes later & when they got back inside, they were arguing & screaming so loud. To make a long story short, they kept fighting; throwing some punches at each other, (one which hit the baby), & got the cops called on them. When the cops arrived, they had already left, but eventually they resolved everything & everything cooled down.

My Name

Alexis
People look it up & it says "helper" or "defender"
I am not much of either but I guess I try
I do not think that my parents were striving for that though
My mom changes it all the time; there is multiple reasons
"I liked that name ever since I was younger",
Or "We found it in the baby book."
But the most famous is "I always liked the car Lexus"
Gee thanks mom
Quite honestly I always preferred a nickname like "Lexi" or "Lex"
I am not a big fan of my name for some reason.
Could it be because it is a big name for boys in Puerto Rico?
I cannot answer that question but maybe one day it will come to me
I have always met more guys named Alexis than girls but hey I'm not judging
I always thought "well if I married him we could have the same name.."
Aha well then that would be cool I guess
Sometimes I think, what if my name was something different?
Would my personality be different?
Would I still be like a bottle of champagne?
Bubbly when my tops on, but when you pop it off, I burst with excitement or anger?
Well I will never get answers to any of those questions.

Most Important Rule

I am a person that prefers to live in the moment, I do not wait for things to happen tomorrow, I make them happen today. I live for now not tomorrow. Nobody is guaranteed tomorrow so make today worth living. Too many people stress about tomorrow, next week, next month, etc. For example, the summer eighth graders turn into freshman, they stress out even though it is a while away instead of enjoying summer. Baby steps should be taken & people should slow things down to take everything in. Life should be lived without a caution sign. Things happen, when they do, it should be taken as a life lesson & learned from. People should go through life saying "I did that", not "I wish I did that." Live with no regrets & if it does not go as planned, move on. Things get better & no one should stop living their life & stop doing what they want to do simply because they ran into a brick wall. They should pick themselves up, dust themselves off & keep going. Live for now & enjoy life.
